Reminder: Verify supplier registration status
TICO reminds all registered travel agencies that tour operators and other providers located outside Ontario are actively marketing and promoting their travel services to you and your clients.
If you book clients with a tour operator that is located outside of Ontario and not registered with TICO, those clients will not be protected by the Travel Industry Compensation Fund, if the tour operator ceases operations.
About the Compensation Fund
The Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund covers up to $5,000 per passenger for travel services that were purchased from a TICO-registered travel retailer and not received because of the closure or bankruptcy of a TICO-registered travel retailer, TICO-registered tour operator or any airline or cruise line.
Tour operators located and operating outside of Ontario are not covered by the Compensation Fund.

To help ensure consumers are eligible for Compensation Fund coverage, we encourage registrants to regularly verify the registration status of suppliers.

Additionally, TICO publishes the following information:
- Closure list – companies that are no longer registered with TICO, generally because they have closed down voluntarily or have moved out of the province.
- Revocation list – companies whose TICO registration has been revoked.
- Suspension list – companies whose TICO registration has been suspended.
