Legal Counsel and Director of Litigation – Full Time Position

The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) is seeking a skilled lawyer with 8 or more years practicing law with solid trial/litigation experience to join TICO’s high performing and collegial team. Reporting to the President & CEO you will be responsible for the effective management of the litigation team as well as conducting prosecutions under the Travel Industry Act, 2002 before the Ontario Court of Justice, as well as conducting hearings as to the registrants’ eligibility to obtain or hold registration before the Ontario Licence Appeal Tribunal.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a law degree and are a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. You must have litigation, trial management and/or prosecution experience, preferably gained while employed by a regulatory body, court or law office. Knowledge of administrative law, advocacy techniques before administrative tribunals as well as consumer protection legislation is an asset. In addition, you have excellent judgement and analytical ability with superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Candidates must have a valid Ontario driver’s licence as travel within Ontario may be required.
