If you have booked travel to Cuba, here is what you need to know about your rights, if you purchased through a <a href=\"https:\/\/tico.ca\/search\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TICO-registered<\/a> travel agency, booking website or tour operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you booked a travel package<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you purchased a travel package through a TICO-registered business, Ontario law protects you if part of the package can\u2019t be provided by a supplier. For example, if your flight to Cuba is unavailable or the hotel cannot accommodate you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this situation, you must be offered your choice of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A full refund;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comparable alternate travel services that you agree to; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A voucher or credit for future travel that you agree to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you choose a full refund, it must be issued within a reasonable amount of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accommodations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel agencies and tour operators may be responsible to take reasonable steps to ensure your accommodations are in the same condition as when you booked. If they\u2019re not, you must be notified promptly and offered:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>A full and immediate refund; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alternate accommodations that you agree to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><u>When accommodations are part of a package<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your accommodations are part of a travel package that included transportation, any refund or alternative service must apply to the entire package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your accommodations were booked on their own, the refund or alternative applies to the accommodation portion only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Information you should receive before booking<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you reserve a trip, your travel agency must inform you of any known conditions in Cuba that could reasonably influence your decision to travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Staying informed after you book<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even after you\u2019ve booked, if something important changes that may have influenced your decision to book that travel, you must be informed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What if travel providers are still operating?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If airlines, hotels, or other providers continue to offer their services, your booking\u2019s terms and conditions still apply. This may include change fees or cancellation penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While some suppliers may offer flexible policies or goodwill gestures, these are voluntary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For more information<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>If you\u2019re unsure how this applies to your trip, please reach out to your travel agency or tour operator.
