Mississauga, ONT. – The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) has charged World Travel Inc. with seven counts of failing to hold money collected from customers for travel services in a trust account and two counts of furnishing false information or documents.

Additionally, Jenny Ai has been charged with one count of being an Officer and Director of a corporation and failing to take reasonable care to prevent the corporation from committing an offence.

On September 29, 2023 and October 27, 2023, TICO laid the following additional charges against World Travel Inc. and Jenny Ai:

  • Two counts of operating as a travel agent without TICO registration; and
  • Two counts of being an Officer and Director of a corporation and failing to take reasonable care to prevent the corporation from committing an offence.

World Travel Inc., formerly a travel agency located in Toronto, Ontario, had its registration under the Travel Industry Act, 2002 suspended on November 1, 2022 and revoked effective February 24, 2023.

It was previously found at the Licence Appeal Tribunal that Jenny Ai, the sole Director, Officer and Supervisor/Manager at World Travel Inc. would accept consumer funds to book airline tickets. However, the requested airline tickets were not booked, and the consumers were presented with falsified booking documents.

Consumers impacted by the closure of World Travel Inc. have until August 25, 2023, to file a claim with the Ontario Travel Industry Compensation Fund. Click here for more information.

Jenny Ai will appear in court on July 21, 2023, at 1:30 pm at 60 Queen Street W.in Toronto, Ontario.

Individuals convicted in Court of offences relating to the Travel Industry Act, 2002 are subject to fines of up to $50,000 and/or prison terms of up to two years. Corporations are subject to fines of up to $250,000.
