Mississauga, ONT. – After being charged by the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), Mr. Emmanuel Adjei was convicted on three counts of operating as a Travel Agent without registration, contrary to the Travel Industry Act, 2002.

Mr. Adjei was ordered to pay $6,561 in restitution and perform 200 hours of community service. He was also placed on probation for two years.

Mr. Adjei was found to have sold travel services online under names such as mrhalfprice (Mr. Half Price). It was found that consumers sent money to Mr. Adjei by e-transfer through an email address, to pay for travel services they didn’t receive.

Consumers who are booking travel services online, including through email and social media, are encouraged to verify if the person or business they are dealing with is registered with TICO. Prior to booking travel, visit TICO’s directory to confirm registration.
