Toronto – Harjeet Davda and Baldwin Travel & Tours Limited have been convicted on 1 count each of operating as a travel agent without registration contrary to section 4(1)(a) of the Ontario Travel Industry Act, 2002. Baldwin Travel & Tours Limited was previously registered under the Act, but continued to operate after its registration was suspended in August 2006. Harjeet Davda was the President of Baldwin Travel & Tours Limited. TICO paid claims to consumers in the amount of $50,702 due to the closure of the company.
Ms. Davda was fined $2,000 payable within 12 months and is to pay restitution to TICO in the amount of $50,702 under a Free Standing Restitution Order over 15 years. Baldwin Travel & Tours Limited received a suspended sentence.
